Nike Hyperdunk Supreme "Marty McFly"
It's October, it's 2015, it's time for McFly to come over from the future.
One of the innovative footwear of its time, the Nike Hyperdunk got an interesting twist when it came out in the futuristic colorway inspired by the 80's hit, Back to the Future.
Exclusively released at UNDFTD store back in 2008, patrons who eagerly camped were treated to a surprise when the then endorser, Mr. Kobe Bryant, showed up. Kobe dropped by the store in a DMC DeLorean and the Hyperdunk on his feet.
The shoe came with pink extra laces, a tissue paper that has Great Scott! written all over it, and was housed in a special Nike box.
The shoe had interesting features, one of which is the insole. It has prints inspired from the actual design found on McFly's hoverboard.
Another interesting feature is when you remove the insole, you'll see a "Y" printed on the heel area that is a nod to the flux capacitor that made the whole time travelling in the movie possible.
It has 2015 printed using fonts from the movie on its tongue, as well as dates that is similar to the dates keyed in by Doc in the movie.
One noticeable feature as well is the heel counter; it features the Nike branding that looks like the one found in the Nike Air Mag introduced in the movie.
The shoe had the innovative technology Nike was yet to unveil—Lunarlon, and Flywire.
Despite the fact that the classic 80's movie is written all over the shoe, Nike wasn't allowed to use "Back to the Future" or even "McFly" for promotional purposes.
Stay tuned for more Back to the Future-inspired shoes through out October. For now, here are some old on feet shots courtesy of my friend Carlo.
